Summer Tips

It is important to be aware of positive and negative effects of sun exposure.

Positive effects includes warmth, light, vitamin D3 synthesis in the body and sunlight also enhances people's moods and kills pathogens.

Negative effects includes, due to overexposure of UV radiation, it can cause sunburn, premature ageing, skin cancers, diseases of the eye, and immune supression.

Before going out, you should aware of risks associated with prolonged exposure to the sun.

There are following summer tips that you should be aware of:

  1. Avoid the strongest rays of the day.
  2. Use sunscreen consistently.
  3. Use protective eyewear.
  4. Check medications
  5. Check child gets a sunburn
  6. Limit exercise on hot days.
  7. Don't keep food at room temperature for more than one hour on hot summer days.
  8. Wash your hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds before and after handling food.
  9. Check your local UV Index which provides important information to help you plan your outdoor activities in ways that prevent overexposure to the sun.
  10. Seek for shade whenever possible because the sun's UV rays are strongest around 10 AM to 4 PM.
  11. Use sunglasses. Don't go to darkness and price tag. Always use sunglasses which are labeled as blocking 99-100% of UV rays or some manufacturer label as 'UV absorption up to 400nm' which is same 100% UV absorption.
  12. Use sunscreen with protection from both UVA and UVB rays, and an SPF of 15 or greater.
  13. Wear protective clothing, such as long-sleeved shirts, pants, a wide brimmed hat.
  14. Focus on more drinking not food. Avoid taking much food.
  15. Drink more and more water. Make a plan about that.
  16. Don't wear black clothes.
  17. Keep summer first aid kit.
